I am an orthopaedic trauma surgeon and I work at BAU International Hospital in Batumi. I specialise in total hip replacement through the anterior approach with a bikini incision.
For the past few years my practice has been focused on a single joint. This is a deliberate choice: I believe that going deep in one field gives a patient more than doing everything. I stopped performing knee operations two years ago.
I see surgery as the most extreme form of treatment. My aim is not to perform operations. My aim is to help people, and surgery is one of the tools. If a patient leaves a consultation with the conclusion that they do not need surgery yet, that is a successful outcome for me.
In recent years a large part of my time has gone into learning: fellowships in the USA, cadaver laboratories, international conferences and doctoral research. This is not certificate collecting. It is the only way to perform a method the way it should be performed.

A comparative analysis of the anterior and standard approaches in total hip replacement
For a patient this translates simply: I am researching which approach gives the better result and which patient each one suits better.
The difference between using a method and researching it is practical. When you collect and analyse results systematically, you see not only what worked, but also the cases where it does not work. That directly affects who I recommend this method to and who I do not.

My own project
Patient Team Education Seminar
An awareness project for patients and interested parties about hip joint disease and modern surgical treatment. An adaptation of the American model to Georgian circumstances.
The idea is simple: a patient who understands what is happening in their joint and what the options are makes a better decision. This seminar is a recurring event, not a one-off.
