Patient Team Education Seminar
An awareness project for patients and interested parties about hip joint disease and modern surgical treatment. An adaptation of the American model to Georgian circumstances.
The idea is simple: a patient who understands what is happening in their joint and what the options are makes a better decision. This seminar is a recurring event, not a one-off.
Programme
What we cover
Four topics, one meeting. The language is plain: the seminar is for patients, not for colleagues.
What happens inside the joint
How cartilage wears away, why pain appears and what the change seen on an X-ray actually means.
What is done before surgery
Weight and loading, physiotherapy, medication and injection therapy: what each one achieves.
When the time for surgery comes
Which signs it is judged by, and why deciding on the X-ray alone is the wrong way round.
What happens after surgery
The stages of recovery, the restrictions, and the signs that mean you should call your surgeon.

The seminar is free and educational. It does not replace an individual consultation and no diagnosis is made there.
